2016 Cross Country
Girls Results
Season Highlights: The
team was coached by Joe Lykes and assisted by Jim Schlentz and volunteer coach,
Adam Petriella. For the first time, instead of dual meets, there was a
combined Shore Conference A North Public Champs/Freehold District Champs, which
the team won easily. Team highlights: The team was 6th
at the Meet of Champions, 1st in the
Group III State Champs, 2nd in the North Jersey 2 Group III Champs and 1st in
the Shore Conference and Monmouth County Champs. Individual
highlights: Colleen Megerle was 2nd in the Group III State Champs, 3rd at the
North Jersey 2 Group III Champs, 4th in the Monmouth County Champs and 6th in the Shore Conference
Champs. Delia Russo was 8th in Monmouth County, 11th at North Jersey Group
III Champs and 17th in the Group III State Champs, Raeann Giannattasio was 13th
in the Shore Conference Champs and 14th at North Jersey Group III Champs, Eva Gibson was
15th at North Jersey Group III Champs and 18th at the Shore Conference Champs
and Group III State Champs, Catie Anderson was 18th at the Monmouth County
Champs and Natalie Shapiro was 14th at the Monmouth County Champs.
Post-Season Highlights:
Colleen Megerle was named 1st team All-State
Group III, Delia Russo and Eva Gibson were named 3rd team by the Star Ledger.
Colleen was named first team All-Shore Conference , Delia was named 2nd team and
Eva Gibson honorable mention by the Asbury Park Press. Coach Schlentz
and Coach Lykes were named NJ State Co-Coaches of the Year by the Star Ledger.
