2017 Cross Country
Girls Results
Season Highlights: The
team was coached by Joe Lykes and assisted by Jim Schlentz and volunteer coach,
Adam Petriella. Just like last year, instead of dual meets, there was a
combined Shore Conference A North Public Champs/Freehold District Champs, which
the team won easily. Team highlights: The team was 3rd
at the Meet of Champions, 1st in the
Group III State Champs, their 2nd straight State Championship, 1st in the
Central Jersey Group III Champs and 1st in
the Monmouth County Champs. Individual
highlights: Colleen Megerle was 10th in the Group III State Champs, tied for
2nd at the Central Jersey Group III Champs, 4th in the Monmouth County Champs and
5th in the Shore Conference
Champs. Delia Russo was 7th in Monmouth County and 19th in the Group III State Champs,
Eva Gibson tied for 2nd at Central Jersey Group III Champs, was 9th at Monmouth
County Champs, and 13th at the Shore Conference Champs
and 18th at the Group III State Champs, Natalie Shapiro tied for 2nd in the
Central Jersey Group III Champs, was 6th at the Monmouth County Champs, 10th at
the Shore Conference Champs and 20th in the Group III State Champs. Catie Anderson was
8th and Lucy Gardner 9th at the Central Jersey Group III Champs.
Post-Season Highlights:
Colleen Megerle, Delia Russo and Eva Gibson were named
2nd team All-State
Group III, Natalie Shapiro was named 3rd team All-State Group III by the Star Ledger.
Colleen and Delia were named first team All-Shore Conference by the Shore Track
Coaches Ass. Colleen was named 1st team All-Shore Conference by the Asbury
Park Press with Delia, Eva and Natalie all named 2nd team. Coach Schlentz
and Coach Lykes were named Shore Conference Co-Coaches of the Year by the Shore
Track Coaches Ass.
