Brittany Hinton, a rookie for the Screaming Eagles cross country team had a phenomenal season for 2009. In the first race of the year, hosted by Delaware Valley College, Hinton placed third overall with a time of 24:09.27. Hinton beat 152 other runners in a 6K to start off the season. This also named Hinton Runner of the Week for the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC). Hinton also participated in the Steven's Invitational where she finished 7th overall with a time of 23:16.30. This shaved off almost a minute from her first race. After long hours training for her next race, Hinton ran in the DeSales University 6K Invitational and placed 10th out of 221 runners. She finished at 23:54.24. In Hinton's last race of the year before the NEAC Championship, she finished first overall at the St. Joseph's 5K Cross Country meet. Her time of 20:21.0 was her best this season and named her Runner of the Week for the NEAC for the second time. In the final championship meet, where the College of Saint Elizabeth faced nine other teams, Hinton finished 2nd overall with a time of 20:20.5 to beat her last race by a second. Not only was Hinton a dual award winner for runner of the week but also was recognized as a part of the All-Conference Team for the NEAC. | ||
