Cougar Invitational

Meet Info

The course is mostly flat with some mild rolling hills and is run over 100% grass and dirt trails.  Spikes are recommended.  It is well marked (a painted line for the full Varsity/JV course) and fast.  It is a superb spectator course that has the runners come through the main field several times.  (see the course maps)  The following rules apply:

Cougar Timing will time and score the meet.  It will be automatic timing.  There will be no day of the meet entries.  You must get all rosters and individual entries sent or faxed by Friday, September 12th.  These must be received by September 12, not postmarked.  With a number of out-of-state teams coming, we have to have the teams in by this date to ensure proper sanctioning.  If you can not get your info in by that date, call and let us know you are/may come so we can get you sanctioned.  If we do not have you sanctioned, we can not have you compete.

The freshman high school races will have all teams compete in either the girls or boys races.  We will not have separate small school and large school races.  There  will be a team competition.

The JV (junior varsity) high school races will have all teams competing in either the girls or boys races.  There will not be separate small school and large school races.  This is not an underclassman race, you must run a complete Varsity team (your fastest 7 runners) in order to run in the JV race.  At least 5 runners comprise a team.  There will be a team competition.

The varsity high school races will be scored in separate championship, large school and small school divisions.  After we take out any teams that declare they would like to compete in the Championship division, we will divide the rest of the schools into two different equal races depending upon enrollment.  No athletes 19 years of age before September 1, 2009 or 13th graders are allowed to run.  Teams competing from outside New Jersey will be placed in the proper race by using their 10th through 12th grade enrollment.  We will have two races with either championship and large school combined or large school and small schools combined, depending upon total # of entries.  We will give separate awards for championship, small and large schools whether they are combined or not.  If there is a change in schedule, you will be notified as soon as the deadline for entry ends.  Check this website for any race announcements.

Entry fees will be $35 per team for Varsity teams and $30 for all other teams (of up to 7 athletes) or $5 per individual.  You can enter as many teams as you want but you can have only one compete in the varsity race.  The entries must be in meet management's hands no later than Sept 14th.

There will be a concession stand.  There will also be a limited amount of short/long sleeve T-shirts on sale.

We intend to start all races on time.  The course is set up where we can start the next race once the runners in the previous race reach 400 meters to go. Be sure to have your runners on the line 10 minutes prior to the race starting time so that the clerk of the course can check them in.

Please have your athletes be careful of races in progress while walking or warming up on the course.

Pictures will be taken during the races by Rec Central and be posted at http://reccentral.net.

Please bring your own pins.

Results will be posted at this site by the evening of Sept 26.  They will also be posted at the awards area.
