2001-2 Winter Track

Boys Results

Season Highlights:  The team was coached by Jim Schlentz and assisted by Rich Concato. The highlight of the season was the team's first Freehold District Championship.  Team highlights also included finishing 5th in the Group II State Relay Championships led by 2nd place finishes in both the Distance Medley (Jorge Ventura, Craig Stivala, Dave Gaines, and Israel Payan) and 4 x 800 meter Relays (Jorge, Dave, Israel, and Andy Leimbach) .  Individual highlights included Craig Stivala finishing 8th in the pentathlon at the National Scholastic Championships and Dave Gaines finishing 3rd in the 800 meters in the State Group II Championships.  Craig (400), Jorge (800) and Israel (1600) won Freehold District individual championships. 

Post-Season Highlights:  Dave Gaines was named 3rd team All-State Group II in the 800 meters by the Star Ledger.  Dave Gaines (800), Israel Payan (1600) and Craig Stivala (400) were named 1st team All-Freehold District by the News Transcript.  Craig missed getting All-American status by just 2 places at the National Scholastic Champs.
