2008 Spring Track

Girls Results

Season Highlights:  The team was coached by Joe Lykes (jumps, hurdles) and assisted by Jim Schlentz (distances), Kevin Hein (sprints), Dennis Bruck (throws), Tinishia Bass (throws), Carl Ekloff (hurdles) and John Flood (hurdles).  They finished with a record of 6 wins and 0 losses.  They now have won the last 29 dual meets over the last 5 years, the last 4 undefeated.  Season highlights: These included Allison Linnell making All-American in the 2000 meter steeplechase as well as winning the 1600 meters at the Meet of Champions and the team winning their 4th straight Freehold District title.  Team highlights: The team was 3rd (just 2 pts out of 1st) in the Monmouth County Champs, 8th in the Central Jersey Group IV Champs and won Shore Conference division title for the 6th year in a row.  They also won the Monmouth County freshman title and the sophomores were 2nd.  Individual highlights: Allison Linnell was 2nd in the 1600 and 4th in the 3200 at the Group IV State Champs; Allison won the 1600 and 3200, Karissa Herrick was 4th (100 hurdles), Tiffany Agalaba 4th (high jump) and Lindsey Rappleyea was 5th (triple jump) at the Central Jersey Group IV Champs; Lindsey was 3rd (triple jump), Brittany Hinton 4th (3200) and Raquel Ioia was 6th (javelin) at the Shore Conference Champs;  Allison (1600 and 3200) was Monmouth County Champion and Kathyn Herrick (400 hurdles), Allison (1600), Karissa (100 hurdles), Lindsey (high jump), Brooke Schneider (shot put) and the 4 x 400 meter relay were Freehold District Champions.

Post-Season Highlights:  Allison Linnell earned All-American in the 2000 meter steeplechase, she was also named 2nd team All-Groups All-State in the 1600 meters by the Star Ledger and New Jersey Track magazine.  Allison (1600) was named 1st team All-State Group IV by the Star Ledger.  Allison (1600) was named 1st team All-Shore and Lindsey Rappleyea (jumps) was 3rd team by the Asbury Park Press.  Allison (1600) was named 1st team All-Monmouth County with Lindsey (triple jump) and Karissa Herrick (400) 2nd team and Kathlyn Herrick (400) and Raquel Ioia (javelin) 3rd team by the Star Ledger.  Allison (1600), Kathlyn (400), Karissa (100 hurdles), Brook Schneider (shot put), and the 4 x 400 meter relay team (Kathlyn, Karissa, Julia Tomaro and Kathleen Knauf) were all named 1st team All-Freehold District by the News Transcript.  Morgan Clark (800), Allie Flott (1600), Rachel Morris and Brittany Hinton (3200), Tiffany Agalaba (long jump), Tracey Vill (pole vault), Sheila Rener (shot put), Christina Kantonides (discus), Raquel Ioia and Emily Lawrence (javelin) were named honorable mention All-Freehold District by the News Transcript.

Girls 

It is a world of the individual against himself, it is his aspirations challenging the capacity of his body.  There is no enemy but the straining of every muscle.  It is not a sport, it is a life of work and precision and sometimes it is rewarded by a cheer or a press clipping.  But when the press clipping turns yellow, there will still be the memory of that time, perhaps only a moment, when the crowd faded to nothing and the only sound was breathing and the only feeling was the ache of endurance and pushing, pushing until the body soared with the mind, and no one else knew what it was to strive.

@ Egg Harbor  5/30-31/08

Allison Linnell placed 2nd in the 1600 to National Champion Jillian Smith of Southern.  Allison made a big move with 600 to go that only Jillian covered.  In the 3200,  after the pace slowed, Allison tried to break away after 1800 meters but slowed when she hit the wind, she surged again for a 200 with 1000 left and finally with 500 left but the moves had fatigued her and she was passed by 2 in the last lap and the final one by just .01 secs.
