2007-8 Winter Track 

Girls Results

Season Highlights:  The team was coached by Jim Schlentz and assisted by Joe Lykes and Dennis Bruck.  Highlights included Briana Jackucewicz 2nd in the 2 mile, Allison Linnell 4th in the 1 mile and the 4 x 1 mile relay 4th in the National Championships and the team winning their 3rd straight Monmouth County Individual and 2nd straight Relay titles.  Team highlights: The girls also finished 5th at the State Group III Championships and 2nd at the Central Jersey Group IV Champs.  Individual highlights: Allison Linnell won the State Group IV 3200 title, the Central Jersey Group IV 1600 title, the Shore Conference 3200 title and the Monmouth County 1600 and 3200 titles; Briana Jackucewicz won the Central Jersey Group IV 3200 title and was runner-up in the State Group IV Championships; Lindsey Rappleyea won the Monmouth County high jump title and was 2nd in the Shore Conference Champs;  the Distance Medley and 4 x 800 were both County Relay Champs with the shuttle hurdle team 2nd; Allison, Lindsey and Sheila Renner (shot put) were all Shore Conference A North champions. 

Post-Season Highlights:  Briana Jackucewicz (2 mile) and Allison Linnell (1 mile) were both named All-American by the NSIC along with the 4 x 1 mile relay of Morgan Clark, Allie Flott, Briana, and Allison.  The relay team was also named 2nd team All-State All-Groups and Allison was named 3rd team (1600) by the Star Ledger and NJ Track magazine. Allison was named 1st team All-State Group IV in the 3200 by the Star Ledger with Briana (3200) making the 2nd team; Allison was named 1st team All-Shore in the 3200 by the Asbury Park Press with Briana (3200) and Lindsey Rappleyea (high jump) making the 2nd team. Allison (1600), Briana (3200), and Lindsey (high jump) were all named 1st team All-Monmouth County by the Star Ledger.  The All-Freehold District team had Allison (1600), Brianna (3200), Lindsey (high jump) and Sheila Rener (shot put) as 1st team.  Named honorable mention All-Freehold District were Karissa Herrick (55 hurdles, 4x400), Kathlyn Herrick (400, 4x400), Lauren Knauf (4x400), Samantha Santo (4x400), Allie Flott (800), Morgan Clark (800), Rachel Morris (3200), Brooke Schneider (shot put).

It is a world of the individual against himself, it is his aspirations challenging the capacity of his body.  There is no enemy but the straining of every muscle.  It is not a sport, it is a life of work and precision and sometimes it is rewarded by a cheer or a press clipping.  But when the press clipping turns yellow, there will still be the memory of that time, perhaps only a moment, when the crowd faded to nothing and the only sound was breathing and the only feeling was the ache of endurance and pushing, pushing until the body soared with the mind, and no one else knew what it was to strive.

National Scholastic Indoor Championships

@ NYC Armory, 3/15- 3/16/08

In the 4 x 1 mile relay, Briana Jackucewicz takes the team from 13th to 7th with her fastest 1600/mile ever and then Allison Linnell takes the team to 4th holding off two other teams one second back.  In the 1 mile on Sunday, Allison Linnell was 5 meters behind last place at the 400, was still last with a 400 to go before moving up to 4th and missing 3rd by .02 of a second.  Briana Jackucewicz followed that up with a second place finish that broke the 21 year old NJ State junior record.  Unfortunately, this record was broken an hour later in Maryland by Melanie Thompson of Voorhees with her 10:30.95.
