2008 Cross Country
Girls Results
Season Highlights: The
team was coached by Joe Lykes and assisted by Jim Schlentz. The team
finished with a dual meet record of 6 wins and 0 losses in the A North division of the
Shore Conference, which they won. This was their 7th division title in a
row. They have now won 35 straight dual meets and have not lost since
2003. Team highlights included finishing 13th in the State Group IV Championships,
4th in the Central Jersey
Group IV Championship, and 4th in the Shore Conference Championships. Individual highlights included Briana Jackucewicz
finishing 2nd at the Group IV State Champs, 2nd in the Shore
Conference Champs, 2nd in the Central Jersey Group IV as well as the Monmouth
County Champs. She won the Cougar Inv; Rachel Morris winning the Freehold
District Championship; Eva Wimberley finishing 17th in the Shore Conference
Champs and 12th in the Central Jersey Group IV Champs.
Post-Season Highlights: Briana Jackucewicz
was named 1st team All-State, All-Groups by New Jersey track magazine and
1st team All-State Group IV by the Star Ledger. Briana was named 1st team All-State senior team
by New Jersey Track
magazine. Briana was named 1st team All-Shore
Conference by the Asbury Park Press. Briana was named
1st team All-Monmouth County by the Star Ledger with Eva Wimberley 2nd team and
Rachel Morris 3rd team.
Briana, Eva and Rachel were named 1st team All-Freehold District by the News Transcript.
Casey Corley and Morgan Clark were named honorable mention All-Freehold
District.

|
| It is a world of the individual against himself, it
is his aspirations challenging the capacity of his body. There
is no enemy but the straining of every muscle. It is not a
sport, it is a life of work and precision and sometimes it is
rewarded by a cheer or a press clipping. But when the press
clipping turns yellow, there will still be the memory of that time,
perhaps only a moment, when the crowd faded to nothing and the only
sound was breathing and the only feeling was the ache of endurance
and pushing, pushing until the body soared with the mind, and no one
else knew what it was to strive. |

The Cougar girls bounce back from a horrible County race to
finish 4th, just 2 pts behind 3rd. Though it was a faster course, they
averaged 1 min and 43 secs faster per person. Eva Wimberley ran
tremendously in her 1st race in 18 months. Briana ran the 6th fastest time
ever for the course in tying her best time on this course.

hi 40s, very windy, especially against runners after the bowl
Briana Jackucewicz came out of the woods after the 1st 1000
meters in about 35th place, moved up to 9th at the mile and kept moving all the
way into 2nd place to move on to the Meet of Champions next week. She had
the 5th fastest time of the day for all the groups.

Bothered by a pain in her calves which started mid-week, Briana
had to hold back early and could not catch up.
