2012 Spring Track

Girls Results

Season Highlights:  The team was coached by Joe Lykes (jumps, hurdles) and assisted by Jim Schlentz (distances), Kevin Hein (sprints), Dennis Bruck (throws) and volunteer coach Adam Petriella.  They finished with a record of 6 wins and 0 losses to win the Shore Conference B North division championship.  It was the girls 8th division championship.    Season highlights: The team was 3rd in the Monmouth County Champs and the Monmouth County Relays, where they won the 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and 4 x 800 relays.  they were also 7th in the Central Jersey Group IV Champs.  Individual highlights: Julia Petruch (triple jump) and Ally Doyle (discus) were 7th at the Group IV State Champs.  Julia was also 2nd in the triple jump and 3rd in the 400 hurdles in the Central Jersey Group IV Champs where Ally Doyle was 3rd in the discus, 4th in the shot put and 6th in the javelin.  Juliana Wittmann was 5th in the 100 and 4th in the 200 there as well.  Arielle Weiner (3200) was 3rd and Jackie Wold (100/200) was 4th in both at the Monmouth County Champs, where Ally was discus champion.    

Post-Season Highlights:  Ally Doyle was named 1st team All-Monmouth County by the Star Ledger.  Julia Petruch (triple jump) and Tori Zamarra (100 hurdles) were both named 2nd team with Jackie Wold (200) and Arielle Weiner (3200) named to the 3rd team.  Petruch (100 hurdles and triple jump), Doyle (discus and shot put) and Julianna Wittmann (200) were named 1st team All-Freehold District by the News Transcript.  Wold (sprints), Zamarra (hurdles), and Weiner (3200) were named honorable mention All-Freehold District by the News Transcript.

Girls

It is a world of the individual against himself, it is his aspirations challenging the capacity of his body.  There is no enemy but the straining of every muscle.  It is not a sport, it is a life of work and precision and sometimes it is rewarded by a cheer or a press clipping.  But when the press clipping turns yellow, there will still be the memory of that time, perhaps only a moment, when the crowd faded to nothing and the only sound was breathing and the only feeling was the ache of endurance and pushing, pushing until the body soared with the mind, and no one else knew what it was to strive.
